• I/O error when saving (2000)

If I create a presentation and try to save it, I get a message that says “An enexpected error occurred: I/O error 0”. The only button to press is OK and I have to do this upward of 20 times and then I get “An error occurred while creating a file dialogue. Please save presentations, exit and then restart Powerpoint.” But I can’t save the presentation.

BUT, if I go to File and Send To I can send it to my email address. When I get it out of my email, it behaves normally.

This only happens with creating new presentations. Existing presentations are fine.

Machine has all service packs and updates available.

Does anyone have any idea of why this may be happening and what I can do to fix it? It would seem that the problem is restricted to Powerpoint. No other Office apps are affected (yet!)

Edited: I should have checked with MS first. This knoweldge base article has the answer.
