• i now have to logon (windows XP)

    have i done something to my PC or have i got a virus.
    last week i could turn my PC on and it would atomatically load, now i have to log myself on, why i don’t know as i’am the only one using the PC.

    can any one help and suggest what has changed and how to change it back.????

      Try going to Control Panel>User Accounts and click on “change the way users log on and off”.
      Check the welcome screen box not classic.

      This can happen if you add a second user account, since the computer no longer knows which user you want automatically logged on.

      Various Microsoft patches have caused this to happen in the past, I can’t remember which ones at the moment, but have a look at Control Panel > User Accounts to see what usernames exist.
