GuestAugust 7, 2020 at 8:08 am #2286949Note: Intel(R) Chipset Device Software uses an unusual date
for the devices it is targeting. The date 07/18/1968 is
symbolic – Intel was founded that day. The reason this
date is used is to lower the rank of Intel(R) Chipset Device
Software.
This is necessary because it’s a supporting utility that
should not overwrite any other drivers. Updating Intel(R)
Chipset Device Software is not needed – do not worry if you
don’t have the latest version. There are a lot of search hits where this has been discussed but it seems that the info originates from the driver’s readme : https://downloadmirror.intel.com/29685/eng/readme.txt

GuestDecember 8, 2021 at 2:07 pm #2405233Funny thing I am just getting this update today. 12/08/2021. If this article is written more than a year ago I wonder why It has taken my PC to get this updates when I do manually updates once a week.
I think your right Cern ( or some weird Agency)ย may have something to do with it as they will need ( working) access points to hop on that years networks for communications.

AskWoody PlusAugust 7, 2020 at 2:15 pm #2287048Might be time to finally upgrade that old Intel 4004 processor, eh, Alex? ๐
I thought so as well, but will wait some more.
In 1968 I was writing banking programs in machine code to run on a room sized NCR 315 mainframe computer.
