    Hello,

I am having an error when trying to update an intel file. It happened a while back before, but I don’t know how to resolve it. So, I am posting in here of hopes in finding help. Here is the error message:

      I’m assuming you’ve hit retry?

This is an Intel system driver.  What is the brand of the computer?

I think rather than going through those steps I’d rather you go to the OEM driver page and see if there is an Intel update that will work better from the OEM site.

Alternatively we can set a registry key to not offer up drivers like this.  I think they are more hassle than they are worth.

        Susan,

It’s a Dell Inspiron 15 5510 (Laptop). I have hit retry several times and to no avail it wouldn’t update. I will try going to the OEM site to see if I can update it. Once I figure out how to do that.

        Susan,

I went to the OEM site and installed the drivers. I had firmware that needed to be updated.

Don’t allow Windows update to install drivers, firmware (in this case)…

If you are running Pro version block drivers in GPEdit.
If you are running Home version block drivers ..updates in Device Installation Settings.

The best way to stop unwanted updates in to use portable free WUmgr where you block unwanted updates.

Drivers, firmware should be download directly form OEM or your PC manufacturer support site.

I have Windows 11 Pro. How do I block drivers in GPEdit?

Type gpedit in the searchbar and hit Enter.
          In the editor navigate to:
Local Computer Policy > Computer Configutation > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Manage updates offered from Windows Updates
In the right pane, double click on:
Do not include drivers with Windows Updates
In the box that pops up click on:
          Enabled then Apply then OK
