Hypertext – File Disappears (Word 97 under WIN98SE)

When a word file contains a hyperlink to the web and I click on it, I get the web site but when I go back to Word the document has disappeared. I have to call it up again and then I am asked if I want to revert to the saved file. I answer No and the document appears again.
Any fix for this?

“Dirtying” the document works great, and is the method I will use. I freauently paste URLs from the web into Word documents, and this is a simple fix for those occasions when I want to bring up the web page from the Word document.

I have read your suggestion to this problem, but I don’t think it quite applies to what I typically need to do. I’m usually hyperlinking from a base Word document to a secondary Word document whose file name I don’t know – I have to browse to find it. And I want both documents – or a whole string of them – to remain open. Someone showed me the following method, which is incredibly laborious, but does work. Any suggestions on shortening this process? Thanks.

 Select the word or phrase that will serve as the hyperlink (and remember what it is)
 Insert > Field
 Hyperlink > Options > n > OK > Ok
 In place of the hyperlink word or phrase selected will appear the message
