I have worksheets for each month of the year. On each worksheet I have several hyperlinks to web pages. They have worked just fine for 4 months. On the fifth month I get the message “unexpected error”. The links are showing the correct path to the web page. Can someone please tell me what happened. Thank you.

AskWoody LoungerMay 12, 2003 at 11:10 pm #675952I clicked on the hyperlink symbol and from there I navigated to the web page the I wanted. That inserted the hyperlink on my excel worksheet. Like I said, it has worked for 4 months. I copied it to each sucessive worksheet and up until May, it has worked fine. Now all of a sudden, unexpected error. Sorry if I’m not supplying proper info. I’m pretty green at this.

AskWoody LoungerMay 12, 2003 at 11:27 pm #675954If I understand correctly, you created a static hyperlink (i.e. to a fixed URL, not depending on the value of worksheet cells) on the January sheet, then copied this hyperlink to the sheets for February, etc., but now the copy on the May sheet doesn’t work. What happens if you copy it anew, or create it anew?

AskWoody LoungerMay 13, 2003 at 12:37 am #675960Hans, If I go back to the worksheets where the hyperlink worked previously, now it doesn’t. It gives me the unexpected error. Same thing for March, February and January. Where once they worked, now the don’t. I even tried using the hyperlink formula but that doesn’t work either. I’m baffled.

AskWoody LoungerMay 13, 2003 at 10:12 pm #676288Have hyperlinks stopped working in Excel only, or in other applications too? If it is only in Excel or in all Office apps, but not in other apps, your Excel or Office installation may be damaged. Try Help | Detect and Repair… And of course it doesn’t hurt to let your virus scanner (you *do* have one, I hope) do a complete scan of all your hard disks.

AskWoody LoungerMay 14, 2003 at 12:10 pm #676471Hans, I checked Word and the hyperlink did not work in word either. I did a repair & reinstallation of Office 2000 and now everything seems to be o.k.
P.S. I do have a virus scanner and it detected no virus present. I must have muffed something up. Anyway, it’s working great and thank you and everyone else for the input. You all are great!
