• Hyperlinks Do NOT Open in OneNote

When I point the arrow to any of the hyperlinks topics listed next to the Public Defender and click on it a new BLANK tab opens up in my browser. Instead of taking me directly to that topic as it would when viewing the newsletter Online or in my Outlook 365. Any reason to why is this happening and how can it be fixed? BTW, I have Ask Woody newsletter saved in OneNote when I am trying to accomplish that.

        Hello b,

That right there worries me on how did this mix up happened. Let me see if I can ask my question again and hopefully you will be able to see it.

        Thank you,

Each one of the above links is your response to a different question. You never returned to threads where you asked a question.

I understand that. But how do you explain my question that I posted today have vanished when infact I submitted it. I usually would close a question whether I got an answer to my inquiry or not. It was an simple over sight but once again that should not have happened to have my question getting deleted?? or vanished some how.

Your question is at the top of this thread. It is clearly readable. No one has at yet answered your question.

It has been a couple of days since I posted my question which I was hoping to had received a solution for by now. Since that did not happen, I will just close my question and try to find out the solution on my own. Thank you Ask Woody Forum for your help.

Several points that may help in getting your queries answered:

        • Allow some time for someone to post a response.
        • Remove HTML “clutter” from your posts prior to posting by using the Text tab in the upper-right-hand corner of the editor.
        • Don’t double post.
        • Provide responses in the thread as to your progress.
        • Recognize that those who are providing a response are giving a best effort.

          geekdom,

“Several points that may help in getting your queries answered:

          • Allow some time for someone to post a response.
          • I did. I don’t expect instantaneous replies. I am aware of that.
          • Remove HTML “clutter” from your posts prior to posting by using the Text tab in the upper-right-hand corner of the editor.
          • I am NEW to this forum here at Ask Woody. I am not very familiar with this set up. The HTML, I was not aware how did that got composed and sent!! It was not intentional. Trust me.
          • Don’t double post.
          • Once again after seeing my post did not get submitted when infact I had clicked submit I went a head and posted my question again other wise I would have spent the time and the effort on a duplicate task. None the less it is not the end of the world!
          • Provide responses in the thread as to your progress.
          • I did.
          • Recognize that those who are providing a response are giving a best effort.”
          • I never questioned that.

*** I just wanted to let you know that the you came across was not a very professional and a kind way of getting your point across. Instead I felt that you are trying to school me me and giving me an unnecessary lecture when infact it was not warranted. For the second time, I am closing this question as solved. No need to take this any further. I have used the visual tab NOT the text since text shows the HTML.

          Thank you,

As I understand for hyperlinks to open in OneNote the hyperlinks should start with onenote:\\ instead of http/https:\\
You get a blank browser page because the browser can’t find the original https:\\ URL.

    • #2511916

      Alex,

If they are not hyperlinks then what are they called? Did you read my question and looked at the screen capture carefully? It shows clearly what I was asking.

      Thank you,

      Alex,

One more thing. When I receive the newsletter in my inbox and click on the public defender then it takes me to that selection way below in the newsletter. The same does not happen when I save the newsletter in OneNote. Another thing, what I meant by blank tab that was not exactly what I had meant to say. I get my website that I had selected whenever I click on a new tab to open. Sorry for the confusion. It is not blank once again.

If they are not hyperlinks then what are they called?

Past here one of the hyperlinks.

Hyperlinks Do NOT Open in OneNote

I get the newsletters in Gmail and the hyperlinks point to Gmail :

PUBLIC DEFENDER: The best tech secrets of 2022: AirTags, TikTok, Twitter, oh my
      https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#m_229……_public-defender

The hyperlinks in the online newsletter point to askwoody :

PUBLIC DEFENDER: The best tech secrets of 2022: AirTags, TikTok, Twitter, oh my
      https://www.askwoody.com/newsletter/the-best-tech-secrets-of-2022-airtags-tiktok-twitter-oh-my/#public-defender

None can be opened in OneNote unless the hyperlinks start with onenote://

    • #2512005

I’ve just tried hyperlinks in my OneNote and they work as expected (no onenote:// needed). I looked again at the OPs question and he seems to be copying and pasting from the email into OneNote. The links when I do that also work (well one does at least).

Basem, how are you putting the emails into OneNote?
