Have a co-worker who copies a Word document that contains a hyperlink to an internal survey into new Outlook message, when the email is received, the hyperlink has been expanded i.e.: http://linkURL[/url%5D. When I send a similar message using the same Word document and send to myself and others, the hyperlink is NOT expanded – looks and acts like a normal short hyperlink i.e.: description , but when I send it to my co-worker – the hyperlink is expanded.

Both boxes running Win 2K and Office 2003 with all of the latest upgrages, patches, etc. Is there some setting somewhere in Outlook or Word that could be causing this wierd action?

The difference may be the result of different message formats, i.e., plain text, RTF or HTML. See if that’s an issue. But I don’t use Word as my editor, so I may not be able to help much further.

We are not using Word as our editor either – both machines are supposedly set up the same way – both are using RTF.

Are your Internet Options (Control Panel ) settings – such as “Show Friendly URLs” on the Advanced Tab – also exactly the same? HTH

Yes our settings on the Advanced Tab of Internet Options are the same
nope – still no joy (even after re-boot)

In Word, if one were viewing field codes rather than results, you would expect this. However, I didn’t think Outlook RTF had that kind of option.

There is a feature to view HTML message as plain text. Is there a similar option for RTF that could be causing this?
