Hello Everyone –
I am asking a question today on behalf of one of my users. She has created a Word document that is a survey to send to selected recipients -NOT a spam email, I assure you! The doc is well made and is set up for the respondent to answer questions, and when finished, they are to click on a hyperlink at the bottom, which opens a new email back to my user. So far, so good. However, she would like her survey back! How can we use the hyperlink to attach the now completed survey to the pre-addressed blank email back to her?
Thanks!

AskWoody LoungerMay 12, 2004 at 1:43 am #826149I don’t think Word is the right tool for this. What happens if the recipient downloads the survey you’ve attached, and then reads it from her laptop on the train home? Do you expect her to remember to send back the survey the next time she’s online?
How about putting your survey online and sending a link?
If you could be certain that the recipients used Outlook, you could conceivably code a macro button that placed the document as an attachment in their Outbox.
But I still think Word’s the wrong tool for the job.
Just my two cents.

AskWoody LoungerMay 12, 2004 at 6:06 am #826203I agree with most of the preceding comments
In my experience recipients (bless their hearts) will find all sorts of ways to defeat any instructions you give them).
My recommendation would be to explicitly instruct them to
a) save a copy for their records
email the saved copy as an attachment
You’re likely to get a good return, and, the recipients will at least have a copy to send if you have a follow-up process asking for it
