I am trying to write a macro, for use with MacroButton, that will function as a hyperlink for use on an intranet.

Is there a standard Word macro for this and, if so, how do you use it?

It probably would be easier to use the Insert Hyplerlink (ctrl+k) dialog than a macro button, but if that doesn’t do what you need, please describe this in a bit more detail. The person will have a Word document open, double-click a MACROBUTTON field, and you want to open a particular HTML page in the browser… or…

I am assuming that this is for use in a protected form where a normal hyperlink will not work. If so, you need to record a macro (saving said macro in your form’s template) opening the linked document. Then edit the macro using the VBA editor and make sure that the link is to a document path that will be recognized by any user of your form. (This is probably easiest if you have the linked document on a network drive that is mapped the same way on each user’s computer or if you have the linked document in the same folder as the linking form.)

You might want to consider putting the link in a non-protected portion of your form so that you can use an ordinary hyperlink field instead of the macrobutton. Hope this helps.

I haven’t played with fields in forms, and I’m not clued up on the real needs here.

Would an alternate solution be a hytperlink in the form which points to a hyperllink in a second document which points to a hyperlink to the third and final document? It means TWO clicks instead of one, but might have the advantage of allowing exaplanatory text accompanying the link in the second document, or even a set of alternate choices (several hyperlinks) in that second document?

My mind is struggling to come up with a problem that fits this solution.

There was an article in the VBA Developer magazine on how to make the index act as a hyperlink to the indexed item but I haven’t been able to find it. I believe that I posted something on it earlier in a different thread though. I’ll keep looking.
