• Huge space between footer and footnote

Does anybody know why the space between the footnote page number and the footnote is so big in the attached document? Can it be reduced so that the page number appears just below the footnote?

I understand that the footer is set set to a 4 pt space before, but that can’t possibly account for the enormous space before the footer.

There is 2 pt spacing after the footnote (footnote text style) as well, but as you stated with the other, it isn’t causing the large amount of space. I think that is just the natural buffer Word puts on the footnotes and maybe someone else can tell us if there is any way to change that margin. I have a possible work around that might work for you… Rather than putting the page number in the footer directly, you could open the footer and insert a text box. Then insert the field for Page Number in the text box, remove the text box’s border and then move the text box to the desired location on the page. I noticed you will need to do this in each of your footers since you have odd/even page footers and first page footer selected in your page set up.
