I’m finally attempting to transition from IE to Firefox…….. Early days!

I created the attached Image index of all the smilies that I use in the lounge as a htm file, and have it open in it’s own tab for quick use. It works well for me and has done so for the last 6 months or so in IE8. However, the same file opens in Firefox without the images showing. The images are pointing to my C drive but I can’t see why they show in IE but not FF?

I am a novice with HTML so I would appreciate somebody telling me why it should work in IE8 but not FF?

    ??

I have an idea. Have you imported your bookmarks from IE to FF yet? Because I did that and they import and export in HTML in FF so you could do that and see if you can view those? I know I did it and when I imported them from the html file on my desktop they all worked.

Bookmarks>Organize bookmarks> Import and Export> Import or Export HTML

Can you copy an example of one of them so we can see?

For you it will show as text in both FF and IE, because the images are saved and are pointing to my C drive. I assume that to troubleshoot it, one would need to set up a folder with a few images and point part of the file to that?

But there must be an underlying reason….

I resaved it as HTML only. Yes I am doing that, but I have a Smilie folder on my desktop too hehe~!

So what did you do to it?

So what did you do to it?

I changed how the files were referenced, from

          Code:
          [img]C:UsersNathanDesktopSmilies2cents.gif[/img]

          to

          Code:
          [img]file://C:/Users/Nathan/Desktop/Smilies/2cents.gif[/img]

Well now I’m waiting to hear if it worked Weird that it worked in IE tho isn’t it?

            My current signature:

            Code:
            [img]http://www.wopr.com/S/mad.gif[/img]

So the slashes are different on his signature code.

Yes, it did work, perfectly, Thanks very much! It’s layout is also much easier for me to understand, Thanks!

It has always worked for me fine in IE, why the difference with FF?

I noticed as did TonyE that the slashes were wrong…but that’s cool….I didn’t think about putting the revised file on here so that was GREAT thinking TonyE

There has to be more to it than that though. I’m glad it works for you VegasNath. And you WILL like FF.

I just noticed an error, to be fully compliant it should be file:///C:/ rather than file://C:/

When it comes to HTML Firefox is stricter than IE on what it allows.

Thankyou Tony for the explanation, and Thanks both for your help.

It’s great that it works for you. I have mine set to open in another FF tab which I keep open when I’m in Yahoo Messenger–there are ALOT more available in that than here so should go about creating a file for here too. Thanks
