A client has a network consisting of 1 sever running SBS 2003 and 5 workstations running XP Pro SP3. They have bought 2 x HP CP2025 laserjet printers with built in network ports.
Normally, I would load the printers on the server and then give the workstations the ability to use them. However, HP does not support SBS 2003 and the printers will not load. To get round the problem HP suggested the printers were returned and another make purchased. Great sales technique and customer support.
The only way round the problem, apart from changing the printers, is to load the software onto the workstations and point them to the IP address (DHCP is look after by the router). I canโt see a problem with having 2 identical printers on the workstations and I canโt see any problem with SBS 2003 interfering or conflicting.
Anyone got any comments, suggestions, etc
