I have just purchased a new laptop. Any advice on how to migrate Thunderbird from one laptop to another?

From the old machine, in Thunderbird, Tools > Export, then follow the prompts to export your profile to storage that will be accessible on the new machine. On the new PC, Tools > Import to complete the migration. Accounts, preferences, and stored mail will be migrated.

If the profile is larger than 2G, TB recommends manual backup of the profile. The Export dialog shows links to documentation.

The Export / Import process has worked perfectly on a couple machines that I migrated recently. It probably even works across platforms, but my usage was Linux to Linux.
