• How to have the PC ready to update beyond 2004?

Yesterday I was servicing a LENOVO 10AYCTO1WW desktop.

Windows update is version 2004 (OS Build 19041).
According to this article, it reaches end-of-service 2021-12-14.

Is it likely to update beyond 2004 by end-of-service 2021-12-14?

What can I do to have the PC ready to update beyond 2004 once the owner agrees to it?

I see that too many times when the owner doesn’t want to change anytime, but when they suddenly say OK, I want to be ready immediately.

Windows update is version 2004 (OS Build 19041).

This information includes all v2004 from it’s release until the present. What is the full Build number (should be 19041.xxx). Type winver in the search box and hit Enter.
While you are there, it is helpful to know the Edition (Home or Pro) because the upgrading procedures will depend on which one is installed.

The computer specs would also help. RAM, Processor, HDD or SSD and size. etc

      Windows 10 Home.
winver: version 2004 (OS Build 19041.1110).

      RAM: 4.00 GB.
      Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i3-4330T CPU @ 3.00GHz, 3000 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s).
      HDD ST500LM021-1KJ152.
      — That is according to System Information.
      — Looking around on the Internet, I’ve seen references to it as an HDD, an SSD Hybrid.
      — I’d have to get back up to the Senior Center where I volunteer to find out.

The easiest way to update would be to set TRV to the desired version (20H2 or 21H1) using the scripts provided by Susan, also linked in AKB2000016 in Section 2.

Prior to doing that, other considerations:
+ Make a full-image backup and a file backup of the User data.
+ Be sure if you have Conexant drivers to uninstall them (do not delete) first.
+ Look at the version under Windows 10 Release Information for any other known issues for that version.
+ It will be easier if you have updates current in 2004 before the upgrade, because then the upgrade will only be turning on the Enhancement Pack for the version you choose.
