I had a link that would let me know whether or not something is compatible with Windows 10 but I lost it

I have picked up an HP Compaq-Presario FQ582AA-ABA SR5710F Vista HP SP2 desktop that I’m going to upgrade to Windows 10.
Then I want to see if I can upgrade to Windows 10
However the computer has an NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 and I don’t know how to find out if it’s compatible with Windows 10
    — How can I do that?

      Download Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor

      or

Perform a drive image, upgrade quickly, check compatibility, then revert back to
your original OS if it doesn’t take. Yes, this means that you will have to do a little work
because there is no quick and dirty answer, well maybe not quick but usually always dirty.

According to NVIDIA’s site http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/56378 Win 10 is not listed as supported.
There is also this from the HP support forums that might work http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Audio-Video-Monitors/Driver-Update-for-NVIDIA-GeForce-6150SE-nForce-430-for/td-p/5181377
Just google this, ” nvidia geforce 6150se nforce 430 windows 10 ” (without quotes)
Here is the win 10 Hardware compatability link http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/support/compatibility

Don't take yourself so seriously, no one else does 🙂

      I have an Acer Aspire T180 with a 2.40 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64, Acer EM61SM/EM61PM motherboard, 4 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 and Windows 7 SP1 64 bit O/S.

The Get W10 app informed me it was not suitable for upgrade. Searching the web I found others who had successfully upgraded and others that hadn’t.

Of course the Windows update route cannot be used. I used the 64 bit Media Creation Tool to first download Windows 10 and then burnt the iso file to DVD.
When I tried to upgrade using the DVD, it required a Product ID, which I don’t have and I didn’t think of trying my Windows 7 one.

I then tried upgrading via Setup in the $Windows.~WS Sources Windows. Everything went as it was supposed to and eventually I could log on to Windows 10.

I missed stuff out of the last post.

Windows 10 loaded the default Windows video driver but I installed the nVidia driver, 309.08, that I used in Windows 7 and my resolution returned to 1680 x 1050.

Boot time has doubled to three minutes which includes 35 seconds of blank screen between the first and second screens in Win 10. According to device manager, the only thing not working is the 1395 OHCI Compliant Host controller, which controls the SD card reader.

Only time will tell if I return this 2007 computer back to Win 7. My 2008 Lenovo Y510 laptop handles Win 10 without any apparent problems.

I have returned to Windows 7 on this 2007 desktop. I didn’t do any performance tests between the two O/S’s but it didn’t ‘feel’ right, not very scientific. Also some of my favorite software didn’t work on W10. I use this computer for my important stuff. One of the programs I use is Seagate Drive Manager to backup my data files. Another is Paragon Backup & Recovery 2013, the backup still works but the recovery mode requires use of the P&R recovery DVD. I intend to have a W10 desktop and hopefully will build on from components.

On a positive note, I will definitely keep W10 on my laptop as I can use it as test bed for software I will require for the W10 desktop.
