Periodically I use Search For Files and Folders to find and delete the following specs:

    *mdcbe*.zip *mdbbe*.zip *csav*.zip *bsav*.zip taxnc*.zip

Is there a utility available that I can catalog the above specs to be run periodically to do the same thing as Search For Files and Folders?

    Thanks, John

PS: In the MS-DOS days I used:

It’s easier than you think, because Command Prompt™ and DEL (see DEL /?) come to your rescue!

Change directory to the highest-level directory necessary, and issue
      DEL *mdcbe*.zip *mdbbe*.zip *csav*.zip *bsav*.zip taxnc*.zip /S /P

This will delete all the matching files from that directory and all lower subdirectories (/S). You’ll have to say in what directories these files are found, because you may need to start at C: otherwise!

Because it is possible to delete LOTS that you didn’t expect to, I have included the Prompt switch (/P) in the command, which requires you to press Y or N for each file to be deleted which matches the specification. Worth a try to test first time through?

Running it ‘periodically’ probably means that you wish to do this as a scheduled task, so if you’re not familiar with this mechanism, ask again if you’re happy that what’s above does what you want.

PS Does the utility you used to use not work any more?

        Hi Batcher

Forgot about the power of DOS, it’s cryptic but it works.

The DOS version of FileFinder v5.2 doesn’t work correctly all the time at command prompt
Would be nice to have a Windows version of the following:

Can you have it done during your next coffee break?

        Thanks, John
