how to edit Global.mpt template

hello

I have the Microsoft Project 2002 template Global.mpt. Ive amended the default template about 3 years ago. ive customised the template and added fields into the footer.

I need to amend the template again however have forgotten how to.

In Microsoft Project, I click Open. navigate to Global.mpt, it opens a new project. and doesnt open the actual template for me to amend.

Replies

To make add to or remove items from the Global.mpt file Open Project and select Tools =>> Organizer and use the dialog box to make changes. To add custom items create the custom named item in single file then add it to the Global.mpt using the orgainzer.

apologies for the delay, Ive just got around to looking at this.

I followed your instructions. In the organiser I couldnt find fields “file name and path:.

This is how I edited the Global.mpt with my requested changes:

[*]Open up ms-project
[*]goto menu View, Header and Footer…
[*]click tab Footer
[*]click tab Left
[*]in the Generated drop downlist: select “file name and path”,click Add
[*]Save As Global.mpt in a different directory location.
[*]Copy new Global.mpt into Office XP ms-project template location :
C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10Globa.mpt
[*]check new changes appear, by opening up ms-project & creating new ms project files

The one thing I did notice, on print the file name was truncated. see screen capture
Is there anyway to increase the box that displays file name and date:? If not then thats ok as the data I require to display the “number” is displaying.
