Hi there, someone has come to me this morning wondering how to draw a half circle in Excel. I can’t seem to get a nice straight one with the lines and curves, I can get a whole one and block off half, but realized I have never had to draw a half circle. They say they want to draw them in different sizes on their sheet.

Any one know how to do this simply?

    Thanks!

The following works best if you turn on Drawing > Align > To Grid from the Drawing toolbar.
There is an Arc tool in the Basic Shapes panel (from AutoShapes on the Drawing toolbar).
If you hold down Shift while drawing an arc, you get a perfect quarter circle.
Next, hold down Ctrl while you drag the quarter circle, this duplicates it.
Use Drawing | Rotate or Flip | Flip Horizontal to mirror the copy.
Align the two quarter circles carefully, then select them both.
Select Drawing > Group. The two quarter circles merge into a half circle.
You can resize and rotate it.

Perfect! Thanks. The snap to grid part was what I was missing!
