Does anybody have a better idea of how to download expired Windows updates? The best solution that I know of is to search Google for part of the filename, and also “download.windowsupdate.com”. Example Google search for version 12 of KB2952664: “kb2952664-v12” “download.windowsupdate.com”. This search reveals that a download location for this file is hxxp://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/software/updt/2015/07/windows6.1-kb2952664-v12-x64_e326a7b535c8f62b160b59ab59ffb071bacd891b.msu, which still works.

AskWoody MVPFebruary 23, 2017 at 3:45 pm #96969Here’s how you can get an old update from Microsoft:
Do a search on “Windows 7 Updates October 2016” (or whichever one you’re looking for).
When I did that, I got several links in the search results, two of which were:
(1)
“October 2016 security monthly quality rollup for Windows7 SP1”
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3185330/october-2016-security-monthly-quality-rollup-for-windows-7-sp1-and-windows-server-2008-r2-sp1(2)
“October 2016 Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 SP1”.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3192391/october-2016-security-only-quality-update-for-windows-7-sp1-and-windows-server-2008-r2-sp1These links are not for downloading the patch; they are for getting the KB number of the patch. (The link below is for actually downloading the patch.) The KB number for (1) is 3185330, and the KB number for (2) is 3192391.
You will then use this link to download the patch:
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Rss.aspx?q=KB3185330
(Replace the KB number at the end with the patch you actually want.)Once you have downloaded the patch, you can install it. Do a backup before installing the patch, in case the patch causes some issue on your computer.

GuestFebruary 23, 2017 at 9:27 pm #97025@MrJimPhelps: Thanks for your reply :). The problem with using the Microsoft Update Catalog is that older versions often aren’t available.
