I have tried to connect the PC to HDTV through VGA port. There are always two black bars on the side of the screen. It is similar to watching the SD program on HDTV.

According to the manual, this HDTV supports VGA, SVGA, XGA and DTV. It has VGA and DVI input.

Do I need special device or special video card to cover the whole 16:9 area?

I’ve not done this myself, but I think you may need to adjust the resolution on your PC to use the wide screen formats. For example, 1280 x 768, rather than 1024 x 768.

        Hi Chris,

Yes, you are right. It was the resolution issue.

The PC connected to the HDTV was an old one. Since the video card did not support high resolutions, HDTV set the input at 800×600. After I switched to a newer PC, the 1280×720 resolution on the newer PC covered the whole screen.

        Thanks!

Phew! Not bad for guessing grin.

Now, I want to get a widescreen laptop, to match with my dream widescreen HDTV broke
