        Snowshoes, stockings, stilts.

Not so certain about skis, snowshoes or stilts. If indeed worn on the feet, they are in addition to two other things : socks & shoes (stilts), or socks & skiboots (skis), or socks & boots (showshoes) already on the feet. Indeed since many people usually wear socks or stockings then shoes, sandals, sneakers, (maybe) slippers, skates may also be misplaced on this list.

        Dwang? Very standard down here.

        It did say “Standard” english.
So….just WHAT is a dwang? Or isn’t that for polite company?

      • #1173433

        Dwang? Very standard down here.

DWANG!!! Not twang, but DWANG!!!. That’s the sound I heard the last time I opened my wrist watch to changed its battery.

Watch still keeps great time, but on occasion I still look around for whatever went “DWANG”.

    • #1173430

what about dwelling? Or is that not standard?

And I missed dwarf, which is causing me to dwoubt my senses.

    • #1173443

A dwang is what some people call a noggin! It’s all explained thus: Dwang. It’s a word that a bloke uses to impress other blokes.

    • #1173449

Around where I am a noggin is one’s HEAD.

i.e. “…Use your noggin…” when someone isn’t thinking or acting right.

      1. Name the one sport in which neither the spectators
Nor the participants know the score or the leader
      Until the contest ends.

I thought of chess for this one. I know it’s an internationally recognized spectator event, but whether it’s classified as sport or not ???

      6. Only three words in standard English
Begin with the letters ‘dw’ and they are all common
      Words. Name two of them.

I thought of “dwought”. We have those in when there’s not much wain and it gets quite dwy.

      Alan
