When I post a path (i.e., back slashes are present), they get deleted in the post.
But, I see that some are able to make posts with back slashes. See #2434761 back slash post.
How is that done?

Typing back slashes: \\\
There they are, I did nothing special, just typed them in. So it does not look like this is a problem that happens because of how this Website is set up.
Maybe you could begin a thread in the Testing forum and try different things there, to get an idea of what might be going on. Perhaps using different browsers.
Ex-Windows user (Win. 98, XP, 7); since mid-2017 using also macOS. Presently on Monterey 12.15 & sometimes running also Linux (Mint).
MacBook Pro circa mid-2015, 15" display, with 16GB 1600 GHz DDR3 RAM, 1 TB SSD, a Haswell architecture Intel CPU with 4 Cores and 8 Threads model i7-4870HQ @ 2.50GHz.
Intel Iris Pro GPU with Built-in Bus, VRAM 1.5 GB, Display 2880 x 1800 Retina, 24-Bit color.
macOS Monterey; browsers: Waterfox "Current", Vivaldi and (now and then) Chrome; security apps. Intego AV
I wonder: Would that be obvious if one looked at the writing as “Text” and not as “Visual”?
And would you, please, have the common courtesy of explaining what is “rude and obtuse”, or you are someone who enjoys getting personal for no good reason? Being “Anonymous” is a cover for whoever you are, probably someone known here by a regular handle?
I also wonder how an Anonymous comment, that is supposed to be checked by a moderator, has been allowed to get posted here when written in such a tone.

Thank you WCHS, that was the only explanation as you pointed out in the OP link, however, the link you provided should have been post-2435104
It made sense to me, although the other initial reply is still in the nursery playground with a rattle out of the pram
I’d think that the OP is referring to backshlashes with code not just ///
See this in the Testing Forum: my post in the testing forum
You were being needlessly and deliberately rude. That is not supposed to be allowed here, no matter what you think you are entitled to.

Susan: I am acting civil. I wonder about your use of the plural.

As my Mother always said when separating me and my Sister, there are always two sides.

PK: Probably that is the right approach. I did that and the “\” remained.
By the way: I have reason to believe that I have been insulted by “Anonymous”, who started his comment with: “How rude and obtuse!”
If my understanding of that line is correct, then I have a question:
Are “Anonymous” allowed to insult paying subscribers?

PK “Did you leven ook at the posted link?”:
Mea culpa: no I did not, because the issue seemed clear enough. My mistake.
Besides, I am not expert on what is “coding” in this site and what is merely typing something here.
He asked a question and I answered best I could, with a simple suggestion, and that was all.
I was wrong, but not deliberately so; in other words, being facetious or misleading.
I was trying to be helpful.
But why do I have to explain myself after someone calls me “Rude and obtuse”?
Is that the civil tone one must observe here? What would happen if I called someone here “rude and obtuse”? Is it OK now to start a flame war in AskWoody? Or only if I did it as “Anonymous?”

Thread is now closed. Apologies to WHCS for your hijacking her post. I will investigate why we can’t to proper slashes with the wordfence folks. Typically it’s to ensure cross site scripting can’t occur in a input location but that seems a bit silly on a web site such as ours.
Again a reminder to all. This is a happy forum where we welcome all.
