Outlook, presumably with my connivance last month when I installed it, has placed the outlook.pst file in the folder C:Documents and SettingsJohnLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook. (I’m the user ‘John’. I have Administrator privileges.)

Now my wife Dora has become a user of my laptop and I want her to share the outlook.pst file. Actually, I want her to share the e-mails and contacts in it.. However, she cannot “see” into this folder when she is logged on and I find that I cannot share the file, or even the folder it is in, because the folder is in a folder that is not marked for sharing.

What is the usual solution to the placing of this outlook.pst file so that some users of the same home PC, or all of them, may share it? Or is there some alternative way to have the e-mails and contacts of two users shared. (We don’t mind sharing other Outlook resources like Calendar and Notes entries, but it would be better if they were kept separate).

    Regards

My gut instinct would be to move the file to a folder visible to all users of the computer. ..At least, that’s what I’d do with Outlook 2K. Then from within Outlook, you’d have to change where it LOOKS for that file — the command is hidden (in Outlook 2K, anyway ) in Tools > Services…
