How do I increase video RAM? I have a game that doesn’t work right. I was told I had to increase the number of colors and the resolution. I went into Control Panel/Display to do that, but my computer won’t let me select the recommended setting for the game. I was told this probably means I don’t have enough video RAM and that I can go into CMOS to change it. How do I do that? I also have a cheap digital camera that displays strange colors, so it is not just the game.
I had to uninstall the game to make my Win 98, 333mhz Pentium work right again.
    Thanks,

Betty, you are probably going to have to buy a new video card. This is the simplest way to upgrade and a good 16mb or 32mb card is pretty cheap these days. lilputer

Mike is right – some video cards allow you to expand memory but the memory is expensive and offers less to you than a new adapter altogether.

The Voodoo series have a cult following, and I am an ATI fan myself. 16MB would be the minimum to go on. 32MB is better.

Don’t mess with your CMOS unless you have to – you can create more problems that it’s worth by changing settings in there!!

This can also be caused by the monitor setting being wrong, if you have selected a standard 640×480 monitor for example you can’t select a higher resolution. You also didn’t mention if the graphics card is built in or seperate.
