I would like to know how to copy my Outlook 2007 categories settings from one computer to another. Exporting & Importing for the Calender transfers only the dates information but not a Categories configurations with respect to colors and names.

If I understand correctly, the categories are still listed in the appointment record, but the view settings associated with those categories are not taking effect? Views are stored in the mailbox, and I’m not sure you can transfer them between mailboxes. (We had a thread for an earlier version of Outlook about an XML export/import feature for views, but I don’t think it worked well in our experiment. Perhaps this is better in Outlook 2007?)
If the categories are not listed at all, perhaps a different export format will work better.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 2, 2009 at 5:49 pm #1183903The Categories are used/displayed in the calender, tasks, and contacts. I tried applying all the categories on one computer to a contact then exporting said contact to a vcard file. Then transfer said Vcard file to the second computer and imported it, kind of expecting the categories to be imported as well. But no such luck. The contact imported but no categories. Alas I any looking for another solution, as I am too lazy to type all my categories and respective colors into the 4 computers I use as a rule.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
