    Hello,

I am trying out some training software via the web.
It consists of SWFs played via the browser which work fine.

One of the files is attached (taken from Internet Explorer’s “Temporary Internet Files” folder); please unzip it & try to run it; it doesn’t work
So my Q. is: how come it works in the browser, but not when downloaded?

    Thanks.

The heavy lifting that you see in a Shockwave presentation is done on the server that provides you with the page. The file that is downloaded in your browser merely contains specifics that bridge between the plug-in in your browser and the content transmitted by the server. Once you leave the site, what remains in your Temporary Internet Files folder is orphaned – as the server is no longer present.

If you are looking to use Macromedia Shockwave for your training programs, you will have to acquire their products from their website

Probably a security feature. Wouldn’t be in business long if you could just use their content anywhere you pleased.

Hold Shift and right-click and then select Open With, and choose Internet Explorer as the application. The browser will load with the plug-in and you will be able to watch the presentation.
