How Can I Force Windows 10 22H2?

I have seven PCs all running Windows 10 Pro. Windows Update has updated five of them to 22H2 however two PCs are still stuck on 21H2. Oddly enough, those are two of the newer PCs (and they are both Win 11 ready).

I am not interested in switching to Windows 11 yet but I would like to at least have all of my PCs on 22H2. How can I “force” 22H2 onto the two PCs that are still stuck on 21H2?

If those two PC’s in question are up-to-date, why not just download the W10 22H2 enablement patch kb5015684 to update then run it after taking necessary precautions (system image)?

Thanks for the info! I had never heard of the W10 22H2 enablement patch. I downloaded it and ran it on one of my PCs and now it’s showing 22H2 19045.2846

I’m a little surprised that the enablement patch is only 177KB and that’s all it took to get the PC from 21H2 to 22h2 … or did I miss something?

No, you didn’t miss anything, the features were already dormant/ inactive within 21H2 if up-to-date and just needed enabled, hence the small filesize.

Since the computers are Windows 11 ready, as soon as you have finished installing Windows 10 22h2 and rebooted use your preferred method to make sure Windows 11 is not offered.  I would use GRC InControl.

Going to this site and running the “update assistant” should bring your computer up to Windows 10 22H2.  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

I have a similar problem.  I am running Windows 10 on a Dell desktop that is not ready for Windows 11.  I am running Windows 10 21H1 (verified by WINVER).  When I check for updates, Windows tells me that I am up to date.  I know that support for 21H1 has a finite life.  How can I force an update to 21H2?  Can I use the patch solution discussed above?

Yes, you can use either the script or InControl to move Win10 to either 21H2 or 22H2.

21H1 reached EoS on Dec 13, 2022 and 21H2 reaches EoS on June 13, 2023 (only 36 days from now) so I “think” you probably meant 21H2 and 22H2 (which will receive support thru EoS for Win10 which is Oct 14, 2025 .)

so I’m in the same predicament.. I really don’t want to upgrade to w11 but will if I have to… from the windows update website it goes thru then entire process then fails with a “you can upgrade from a usb device”.. Weird as I’m not doing that… just pissing me off at this point..

You don’t have to.  Use the enablement package or the update now or ensure that your settings are not to block 22H2.
