I subscribe to some digital newsletters sent to my Hotmail account. The subject lines are often not descriptive so that I can easily find an e-mail I desire when I glance through the folder set up for these e-mails. I can’t find a way to simply change the subject line as I can do in Outlook. I know that I can search the e-mails, but would really like to be able to use descriptive subject lines without going through the exercise of forwarding the e-mail back to myself with a new subject line. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this? Thanks!

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 25, 2011 at 4:37 pm #1269167That’s disappointing, but at least it’s good to know that I wasn’t missing something obvious in the Help area in trying to find a solution on my own.
I haven’t really explored the Windows Live Mail program. Does that allow one to re-name subject lines? If not, I prefer to keep my e-mail accounts segregated.
Thanks to you both for writing!

WLM also does NOT allow you change the subject line.

AskWoody LoungerDecember 26, 2011 at 6:03 am #1311805I experienced the same problem and after snooping hard for a solution, I finally found it, which is pretty simple:
1) Open the message whose SUBJECT line you wanna change
2) Click on “Save” and choose Desktop as the destination
3) Using NotePad, open the saved message from the Desktop
4) Once open, scroll down the NotePad page till you finding the SUBJECT line you wanna re-name
5) Replace the current generic name by the name you wanna give it either by typing it or by simply “Copy and Paste” the new name. PLEASE, take enough care not to change anything else!
6) Click on “Save” tag at NotePad to save the newly-named message back to Desktop
7) Drag the newly-named message back into Live Mail in-box
8) Once you did it, the newly-given SUBJECT name will show up and you can delete the old one.Hope it helps!
