Hot Spots and Image maps FP 2000

Is there any way to make each of several hotspots on a single image show a different text tip when you point to it. As far as I can tell when your mouse pointer finds the hotspot it just tell you the alt text for the image. Is there anything I can type into HTML which will help? There is no option for text in hotspot properties?

You could do it with MouseOver commands to pop up something.
Have a look at mdchachi’s tour of Japan – is that the sort of thing you want?
This uses Javascript – you should be able to find some examples at – such as True pop-ups – I’ll see if I can find something for you.

thanks for this – the only trouble is my better half is motorcycle mad and it has been a real problem getting my pc back!!!!

This is exactly what I am looking for – will go on an explore of my own, but if you do come up with anything I would be grateful.

I haven’t followed your link Leif – but what I might suggest is adding the title attribute to your hotspot. This can’t be done through the Normal view, you’ll have to look at your html tab and manually add the title attribute.
As an example (I’ve subsituted the | for the angle brackets).
|area href=”upperdeck.htm” shape=”rect” coords=”8, 6, 303, 163″ title=”go to the upper deck”|
This enhancement to html was added in HTML 4.0 so earlier browsers might not see the popup.

thanks for this – both script and html methods are very handy. The html method will help me immediately because the powers that be have stipulated no scripts on the site!!! It think if they had their way we would not even use coloured fonts!!!
