The Home icon (small house) that used to be beside the refresh icon has disappeared for the second time. I believe it happens when Firefox is updated. Last time I found a solution in Settings, that seems to have gone too, at least I can’t find it.

Is this going to be a ‘feature’? Why would they do this? So maybe nobody else wants that icon, does that mean that I can’t have it. I’ve stuck with Firefox for more years than I care to remember, maybe its time to move to Edge, something I swore I’d never do.

Just noticed the History panel that opened in the top-left corner. That answered the question, and just in time; saved me the cost of a divorce!

      I don’t have 92, but can you: View > Toolbars > Customize ?

    • #2389393

Looks like the Home Icon is missing in Win 7 but it’s still there in Linux Mint 19.2.

Firefox, any greater version than 56 (64bit), it is an poor experiment.

Us (expert’s) using Win7 Pro, primarily we need our computing experience to stay unchanged.

Storage or upload of your passwords to cloud, this is the best bad joke ever …

In Firefox 92 I can right click the toolbar (anywhere, or roughly where home used to be) a customize window opens and there is a home button that can be dragged and placed on the toolbar.

So is the “hamburger” gone too?  This is truly disgusting.  I’m so glad I haven’t “updated” to FF 92 on any computer yet!!

Hamburger is still there in Win 7. I don’t have access to my Win 8.1 right now. Mint 19.2 seems completely unchanged.

I never use the Home icon so I didn’t notice it’s absence.

Yep go to Custom and look.   I have 92 and  the HOME symbol  never disappeared with the up dates.

I assume you’re referring to Win 7 since we’re in the Questions Win 7 category.

Thanks for your response, got it back. Now at my age the trick is to remember how I got it back!

“Now at my age the trick is to remember how I got it back!” (emphasis added)
Now you’re being discriminatory: you should not disrespect any age.

Remember – “Right-click is your friend.” Assuming that you are right handed, and that your mouse is not left over, use that middle finger for what it is supposed to do – to summon a Context Menu.

Does this problem only affect Windows 7?  I’m wondering if Win 8.1 and the Win 10’s are experiencing any of this.

My Firefox browser updated to the latest v92.0.0 on 07-Sep-2021 on my 64-bit Win 10 Pro v21H1 (build 19043.1165) machine and I haven’t noticed any change in my menus or toolbar. The Home button and “hamburger” Menu button are still visible as shown in the attached image.

I bit the bullet and updated FF to 92 on my Win 7.  I’m relieved to find not much visual change.  When you click on History – Clear Recent history, the box is now white instead of grey.  Not a big deal, but I always have to wonder – why?

Will do Linux next after I investigate 92 further.

Did my Linux Mint “update” last night.  It turned out the same – white Clear History box has taken the place of the grey one.  This is probably because of FF not using the OS colors, and replacing everything with black or grey on white.

There is no Home button in Firefox toolbar and there is none shown in More Tools/Customizt toolbar, so I can’t drag and drop it in…  I do not want to click Restore Default because I only want to get the Home (house icon) back. Why has Firefox done such an odd thing as to remove this icon?  I’m on Windows 10 and Firefox 101.0.1

        Hi DD:

I have a Win 10 Pro v21H2 OS and my Firefox v101.0.1 browser has a Home button.

See the following Mozilla support articles for possible solutions:

If the suggestions in those support articles don’t help then try a browser refresh (Help | More Troubleshooting Information | Refresh Firefox). Just note that a refresh will remove your browser add-ons and change your custom settings back to their defaults per the Mozilla support article Refresh Firefox – Reset Add-ons and Settings. As a precaution you can backup your bookmarks (Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks | Import and Export | Backup) but a browser refresh should not affect your bookmarks, cookies, browsing history or the other personal data listed in that support article.

Possibly the Home icon has disappeared into all those available if you look at Customise Toolbar.

You can drag and drop it from the pool onto the Toolbar in the location you want.
