Proported as an excellent method of ‘covering your tracks’, this program might well work for this purpose, however, I prefer to have this running to keep my system’s performance at it’s peak.

How does it work? Every time you exit I.E., or NS, It deletes all cookies, all temp internet files, even rehashes your index.dat file.

It’s got a slew of other features as well, popup killer, as well as options for disabling portions of the history kill process.

The software is good for a 30 day trial, but overall, i’d recommend it!

        Sometimes..

Personally, I’d do without cookies if I could. There’s nothing wrong with entering information again, it’s the most secure method of online browsing.

I have yet to play with TweakUI 2000… but I like the idea of starting fresh everytime… what with my limited hardware resources.. wink

..are you saying that every time you come here (or to any other board) you don’t mind having to type in your user name and password? What about the boards which have several subscriber only access forums? Do you re-enter your details every time? Seems a bit ott to me, but chacun a son gout or whatever…

          • #535368

Oh yer – my bruvver’s got gout… grin

          • #535373

Yep. I reenter my detials every time.

Username, Pass, for each site that requires it.

The reasons are simple.. I don’t want anyone else putting my hat on for any period of time, so I feel better deleting all of this information as often as possible.

But then, that’s just me, and it is a matter of how comfortable you are… wink

Point taken Drk, oh and by the way, if you have ever seen or ever see a post from me that in any way seems, dumb, rude, inappropriate etc. it wasn’t me, it was one of my nasty coworkers while I was away from my cell uhh I mean office. innocent

            • #535378

this proggy cures that too, to a degree.. cleans the system every time you exit your browser..

but we’ll keep that mind… laugh

              hairout
it sure did..every dang username/password…also did some weird things to other parts of my winME !!!!! I was very careful as to what I had checked off for ‘kill’.
I uninstalled that puppy faster than than my hubby can use his remote on tv. toilet
When I couldn’t access my 2nd favorite site cuz my ‘username/password’ wasn’t recognized…that means trouble as far as I am concerned.
I will leave those programs alone…am just happy to be able to re-do what is needed easily – written sheet with data clever

            • #535380

it’s all a matter of preference.. wink

              hello Lonnie

“written sheet with data” I keep mine in a speadsheet. My list soon got too big to search on paper and make changes all the time.

              hello
I have no problems with usernames/passwords…my last reformat was March this year…then naturally I had to re-do all usernames/passwords…until History Kill exclamation evilgrin I use mostly 2 different usernames for all the sites needing one, so re-doing them wasn’t a PIA. rofl

To anybody who enters the logon details every time they access places that require them :
have a look at this dinky little freeware applet. It may be just what you’re looking for..

Personally, I’d be leary of a program like that…

What prevents them from transmitting that information from your system to them? Thier word? Policies? No thanks.. nope

            • #535947

hmmn It looked interesting, BUT…not for me. frown

It doesn’t seem to bother him unduly. He knocks back a tidy amount of wine. As long as he sticks to white he’s OK – Red makes his toe hurt!

BTW how’s the Lounge standing up to IE6?

              [/indent]

Glad you asked that. It’s played a little bit of a game with my display settings.

              i. I can’t get posters’ details to appear at the side of their posts – they now appear on top. and changing the parameter in Controls has no effect.

ii. The opposite is true for this reply set-up. The typing box is now thin and to the left, whereas before it was below – and it now takes up a whole page, with a large blank area to the right. When selected the preview still appears at the top.

iii. Can I cure these by fiddling with the settings in Control?

              Cheers

“I can’t get posters’ details to appear at the side of their posts – they now appear on top. and changing the parameter in Controls has no effect”, I have NOT had this problem with IE 6.0 until today.

Been running IE 6.0 with Win XP for some time, and have NOT had any problems or issues with it and the Lounge.

The display of the reply box I have got back to what it was, but the posters’ details will not go to the side. Was the part of your post in red explaining that this was happening to you, too, starting today? If so, it is unlikely it has nothing to do with IE6.

It’s happening in on my home system. Windows ME, IE 5.5.

              Just started happening this session.

            • #536037

Right, it’s the Board then not us. IE 6 is not to blame, and I’ve had no other problems with it.
              Eileen?

            • #536041

It’s not IE6, it’s ME! devil I’m experimenting with a standardised ‘top’ layout. This way it may be easier to see when preformatted text is too wide and prevent the distortion that results.

            • #536097

Aaahhhh, that explains why my left layout suddenly showed different width “cells” for each poster depending on whether they have a picture or not. I was sure they used to be a consistent width. confused BTW this is with Opera 5.11 in case this makes a difference. I have now tried top which looks better cool

            • #535951

If it’s stored anywhere on your computer, it is wide open to anyone with access to the box.

          • #535417

Every site that requires a username / password that I visit, I also re-enter the information everytime I visit. When complete, I hit the ‘logoff’.

At home I’m not to worried about it, but at work… well they’re a whole bunch of crazy IT people…
