Is there any (pardon me) easy way to hide an Outlook folder?

I use a separate PST file for my contacts and calendar.  Once set I never need to access it in the folder tree.  Outlook shows that folder tree in the folder list window.

Is there a way to just hide it from the standard view?

Do you mean hiding a separate PST file, or hiding a folder within the same PST?  You say “I use a separate PST file….”, which indicates the former.  In that case, you can do it in Control Panel, where you should see something like “Mail (Microsoft Outlook”).  Open it (making sure first that Outlook is not running), and in the “Mail Setup – Outlook” window, click on “Data Files”.  In there, you should see all the PST files which are currently defined to Outlook.  If you see the one that you wish to hide, click on it and then “Remove”.  This will remove (hide) that PST file in Outlook, but of course the file itself  is not deleted.  It can be restored later by clicking on “Add”, then navigating to where the file is located.  But – if this PST file is removed, will Outlook still function correctly?  One way to find out …….

You can also use this method to change email account details, such as a new username,  password, or mail server.

I amend that.  It did not do it, and told me that since that was my primary data file I could not remove it.

        Sigh.
