With the Collections feature, groups of apps can be delivered to employees or teams, and settings can be automatically pushed to devices, such as VPN configurations, Wi-Fi passwords, and more.

As I understand the above, this has been more or less happening for a while with Apple Enterprise applications and services (e.g., government agencies). I have several installed or updated automatically (when the IT people decide to allow this) in a government-owned Mac, so I think the news is that now this is also available to small businesses.

Ex-Windows user (Win. 98, XP, 7); since mid-2017 using also macOS. Presently on Monterey 12.15 & sometimes running also Linux (Mint).

MacBook Pro circa mid-2015, 15" display, with 16GB 1600 GHz DDR3 RAM, 1 TB SSD, a Haswell architecture Intel CPU with 4 Cores and 8 Threads model i7-4870HQ @ 2.50GHz.
Intel Iris Pro GPU with Built-in Bus, VRAM 1.5 GB, Display 2880 x 1800 Retina, 24-Bit color.
macOS Monterey; browsers: Waterfox "Current", Vivaldi and (now and then) Chrome; security apps. Intego AV

I’m sorry, but the chances of me purchasing an Apple product are about as slim as you can imagine.  I will not purchase a product that forces me into a single vendor for hardware, most accessories, and the software to use on that product.  Single-source means no competition and therefore no incentive to price the product competitively in order to attract my business.

      It just ain’t happenin’!

If Apple were the only product that addressed my needs, it might be a different story, but Apple and Microsoft both do what I need very well so I have alternatives.  Same for iOS and Android: my choice is Android and will continue to be my choice for the foreseeable future.

PS: My younger daughter actually purchased an iPad and (I think) an iPhone, so she joked with me that she went over to the Dark Side since she knows my feelings about Apple.  😊

      Amen, brother!

Competition and freedom are a wonderful thing!

I’m in the same boat as you for the same reasons.

(I should add, however, I haven’t been impressed with Windows ever since Win8.  Most of the software I build and use today targets Linux)
