My update settings similar to yours except Quality Updates – 14 day

Today I was offered KB4023057  “Awaiting download”

It appears in my wushowhide so I can hide.

Info out there does not show this as applicable to v1709 – but?

    Should I hide or install?

    Further question:

I already have the following hidden and sitting there  KB4134661 and KB4056254.  My concern is how many of these “questionable” updates can be hidden/remain uninstalled before their absence of installation causes future updates to fail or have problems? MS never intended for us to be able to pick and choose.

KB4023057 is the Remediation shell, or WaaSMedic in 1709. It is involved in resetting your settings to MS defaults. Here is @abbodi86 ‘s list of files involved in update/upgrade. Every time it is issued as a new version it needs to be hidden with wushowhide. (Remind you of 2952664 for Win7?).

You will have to continue to watch for those files in WU and rehide them when they show up.

Thanks I have added this KB to my hidden collection.

Per above end question, (and assuming that MS did not issue the KB’s solely to force us into the next version before we had to) should we at some point close to having to move to v 1803 install these KB’s to avoid an update problem that MS thought needed correction for a smooth update? (eg: could we cause problems with future upgrades?)

I have upgraded my VMs without ever unhiding those files. I don’t think the upgrade cares. 🙂

there are MANY different revisions of KB4023057 for different releases of Win10 so hide them with either wushowhide or Windows Update MiniTool.
