New to tablets and new to iPad.  This tablet is model A2270, 8th generation, recently updated to v. 17.7.1.  Owned for 2+ years now but only use has been to run a specific app that links via wifi to an external device.  Familiar with scrolling, tapping icons, etc., but a snag has just arisen- while the app generally responds to finger input for scrolling, there is one screen that refuses to scroll, even while the tech agent for the app, on viewing a screenshot, tells me there is more on the page than can be seen as displayed.  However, he is stumped.  Never previously looked at the specific page, but the non-visible part apparently includes functions vital to use of the app.

Changing zoom and font settings does not resolve the issue.  Wish to hear from more experienced iPad users with suggestions on what to do.

Just was able to update OS to 18.2.  No visible change to above issue.

It sounds like you haven’t tried removing and reinstalling the app.

      1. Remove the app by pressing/holding its icon until options appear then use Remove App (and remove all, including data):

      remove_app

      2. Restart the iPad (this flushes its RAM).

      3. Reinstall the app… but don’t open it yet.

      4. Power-cycle the router (to flush its buffers) and reconnect to WiFi.

      5. Power-cycle the device that you want the app to connect to (again, to flush buffers).

      6. Open the app again.

The steps above, in that order, should give the app the best chance of receiving the full data set in order to display the full screen you want to scroll to.

Note that if it’s a web app (i.e. a mini browser app connecting to an internal web server on the device) then some web apps don’t scroll well if the data you want to scroll to is within a browser iFrame. Web cam apps are a prime example (hence why removing the app AND its data in step 1 is important… you need to flush any cached browser data).

      Hope this helps…

Thanks for your help.  Delete from the Home screen did not work- context menu by holding app icon didn’t have a delete option.  Then, with all screen elements jiggling, tapping the minus sign on the target icon did nothing.  But I was able to delete it using Settings>General>Delete app and the new download looks to be complete.  The screen that refused to scroll now acts as expected.

Make sure the app itself is updated by going to the App Store, Apps, then see which apps have an update, tap on “Update”.

      MacOS iPadOS and sometimes SOS

@Myst- Thanks for your input.  As noted above, this procedure resulted in an up-to-date installation.  The app was supposedly updated already, but the new install looks somewhat different.
