    Hi,

I don’t know why, but I can no longer access my Normal.dot file. When I go into VBA, it tells me my project is unviewable because it is locked.

    But I haven’t locked it!!

What can I do? Where can I unlock it?

    Thanks

    Chris

Can you File>Open the Normal.dot file in question?

Yes, but I still get the same message when I try to access it in the VBA. Do you have any ideas?

        Thanks smile

Open it first. Then switch to the IDE and right click on Normal in the “Project Explorer”. If the project (Normal) is locked you’ll be prompted for a password. You obvioulsy need to know the password to open that project for editing.

Are you prompted for a password when you try the above?

Hmmm… I’ve seen it wherey you need to open the template by File Open, and pointing at the .dot template. Otherwise the modules are locked out. I don’t know if this works for the normal.dot.

      shrug shrug

Did you import the Normal.dot from Word 6 or 7?
If so, you may have at least one executable-only macro, which causes the entire project to be “locked”.

In this case, the only solution is to re-import the WordBasic, but remove any executable-only macros or replace them with the source version.
