    Hi,
I need two customized rules and don’t know how to create them. One is for moving incoming mail in which From: field belongs to certain category (“When xxx@yyy, that belongs to category ‘Personal’, move to that folder”). The second one it to save as a text file in certain folder an incoming message (“When xxx@yyy, save as ‘subject.txt’ in c:folder”)
Excuse me if the answers to my questions are already in the forum, but I couldn’t find them.
    Thanks a lot

Not sure about the first, but for the second request I think you are going to need something like ExLife from Ornic.

On the first need, you can’t use “Create Rule” in the actions item of an email. You have to use the rules wizard. You’ll need to have the target folder created and have the sender in either your contacts folder or your GAL (if on Exchange). You’ll want to create the category ahead of time too. This will be a local rule that only runs while you’re in Outlook, on the PC you used to make the rule.

Tools Menu | Rules Wizard. New Button
Choose “Move new message from someone”.
Click “People or distribution list” in the lower box
      Select the person. OK. Next

Choose “Assigned to Category” (scroll down for it)
      Click teh “Category” link
      Select your category. OK. Next

      CLick the “Specified Folder” link
Browse to the folder and select it. OK. Next. Next

      Name your rule. Finish.

Thank you Leif. ExLife sounds like a good soft. But here, from Argentina, it’s difficult now to buy something in dollars; it’s very expensive. Thank you OldDog, but what I need is “all of the addresses assigned to category xxxx”. Perhaps I couldn’t make myself clear… english is not my native language. I tried something alike (message assigned to category) but didn’t worked.
Thank you both again, lets keep on looking for…

After you choose to make a new rule, the top of the next screen has two radio buttons. It defaults to “using a template.” You need to change this to “Start from a blank rule.” The default does not let you choose to move based on a category. The second does. Hope this helps.
