Help cannot print from Firefox.

Ok so I had a problem getting Firefox to scale right when printing. So I followed al sorts of recommendations from Firefox. I can across this one, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-printing-problems-firefox and when I did this instruction it when from scaling problems to not printing at all.
Reset Firefox printer setting
Several printer issues can be resolved by resetting Firefox’s printer settings:

1. Type about:config in the address bar and press Return.
   A warning page may appear. Click Accept the Risk and Continue to continue to the about:config page.
2. In the Search field, type print_printer.
3. Click the Delete button to the right of the print_printer preference.
4. Click the Firefox menu at the top of the screen and select Quit Firefox

When you start Firefox again, try printing the page that you had problems with previously.

Note: In older versions of Firefox print.print_printer was the preference name. The old preference name may exist along with the new name. That old preference can be removed by clicking the Delete button. Restart Firefox and print a page after performing the reset. That preference won’t reappear. The newer preference will only be available.

I get a very generic Firefox message that says it cannot print. I can print from Word. I followed a few other suggestions then did a refresh and finally a clean reinstall. After the clean reinstall, I got it to print once, but then it went back again to not printing with the same printing message.

What version of Firefox are you running?

Click Help.
Click About Firefox.

You should see a version number.

It’s Firefox 78.3.1 ESR. It was that version prior to the reinstall too and prior to the printer not working at all. Also when I originally said clean reinstall, I meant of Firefox only, not windows if that helps.

There’s a Firefox add-on called “Print Friendly and PDF”, which allows you to change a web page to a more printer friendly format, or to make it into a PDF, which could then be printed from outside of Firefox.  It may not be what you are looking for, but give it a try – works for me.  As the blurb says:  “Makes a Printer Friendly & PDF version of any webpage. Removes navigation, ads, and junk. Formats the page for print so you save paper and ink. Good for the environment and your wallet.”

Thanks, that worked great! No scaling issues either. Wish I know about that one before!
