• Header Autotext Language (2003)

One of my users asked me to look at his computer for him as something strange was taking place with Word. He went to insert an autotext entry into a footer and it was in a foreign language. I opened up several Word docs (hosted on a server) on his machine: some of the docs header/footer autotext language was in English and some were in a foreign language. All the docs were in English, just the autotext entries were in some other language.

I opened the same docs on my computer and sure enough… the autotext entries were not in English. I am not a Word super user and am not sure where to look to resolve this issue.

Any assistance, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Has the language of the Header and/or Footer style been set to a different language than English in this user’s Normal.dot?

I will check this out. Could just blow away the Normal.dot file and see what transpires. Thanks Hans.

[/indent]I suggest renaming it (e.g., NormOLD.dot) so you can retrieve anything good in there into your new template.
