I have 2 Outlook Accounts…one that I must have created a long time ago when Windows 10 first got installed. I have never used it, but I must have used my gmail address to get it setup. There are only messages in there from Microsoft. This email address is connected to my Microsoft account. I have no intention of using it unless I have created such a mess that can’t be fixed

I used Yahoo mail for many years, but decided not to continue with Yahoo because of their multiple security breaches. So, I created another email account in outlook with a new address and have been using it for several weeks w/o issues. All of a sudden, I was sending a message and got a security check message from Msoft telling me to sign in to my first outlook account to verify my identity. Well, I click on Outlook and I’m already signed in to the first account. My second account I am using on my local account.

Can someone give me a hand in straightening this mess out? Can I just delete the first account and run with the Outlook account I’m using locally and this is how I would prefer it. I can get in to my second account. I just can’t do anything with it. Thanks.

Don’t know if this will help but I have both an old Hotmail.com account still in use and created an Outlook.com account to try during the transition from Hotmail.com to Outlook.com, which is still on-going. To avoid having to sign out from one to enable logging into the other I simply installed Mozilla’s SeaMonkey, which also includes an installable E-Mail Client, and use it to check Outlook.com. It’s really not a problem having both Firefox with Hotmail.com and SeaMonkey with Outlook.com open at the same time with the different Web mail on them.

Before you wonder "Am I doing things right," ask "Am I doing the right things?"

        Thanks for your response.

What I really wanted to do, was to just eliminate the Microsoft Mail account and just use the local one. I don’t want to sync anything, just have a secondary trouble-free account without Microsoft checking up on me all the time to see if I’m doing okay,, but not botch up my PC in the process. :p

I’ll do some poking around to see what I can come up with before I create a restore point and do some experimentation.
