In Word 2003 I used to overlay a picture with callout or other inserts, then select the picture and each other insert, then select Group which tied them all together so they would move as a group. I used the Shift key to perform a multiple select of all the objects. However, I notice in Word 2007 that I cannot select the picture and the various inserted objects, so I cannot group them. If I select the picture then hold shift down and click on another object, the picture unselects.

Is there any way to place all these objects into a single group in Word 2007?

      Hi
      I am using office 2010 ..

I still select multiple objects with the shift +click as I did.
Then a right click and select grouping from the pop out menu.

I have noticed that I cannot select an image as well as some other shapes.
      Cheers

You should enable the option to automatically create a drawing canvas.

This isn’t efficient, but… In Word 2007, if you insert a drawing canvas (Insert>Shapes>New Drawing Canvas), then insert the picture into it, then drag the other elements into it, then group them, the group can be moved back to the document and the drawing canvas deleted.

This looks like the same questionyou have asked twice before.

You’re right John, I keep forgetting that I ran on to the same problem with 2003/2007 and now 2010. I’ve never fully understood the drawing canvas thing and therefore don’t remember to use it.
I just tried it in 2010 and you can select multiple items including pictures and other objects inside a frame and then group them. Once grouped you can then copy and paste anywhere in a document and they stay grouped.
        Thanks for the reminder.
