    Hi there,

I have template of data with pivot table to summarize, and every time I need to group data based on input date, I need to make new pivot which not allowed blank rows, so I can group the data per month or quarterly.

I am not sure whether this is the way it works or I miss something,

    thanks

I don’t quite understand. After you group data in a row or column field, you can ungroup them again, so why do you need to create a new pivot table?

please find attached file, hope could make this clear.

I can not group data in Pivot table no 1, but this is format I prepared to be used by someone else which bit difficult to explain how to re-pivot it.

Once I utilized one of ur formula to indicate name of month in next column, but this case expecting more, having grouping like quarter, or year.

      thanks

So why don’t you use the second pivot table? You can change the grouping easily:

Ya, you are right but I need to change source of data, like in summary no.2.

I can not do that in summary no 1
