Group A (Windows 7 and 8.1) users might not know about the existence of applicable Windows updates that Microsoft has declared must be installed exclusively (i.e. by themselves, not in a batch), such as Windows servicing stack update KB3177467. Windows Update seems to handle Important exclusive updates by not listing them until there are zero non-exclusive Important updates listed.

    Example: See https://askwoody.com/forums/topic/group-b-win78-1-missing-updates-hiding-rollups-security-only-patches/#post-136995.

Windows update algorithm that I now use: https://askwoody.com/forums/topic/group-b-win78-1-missing-updates-hiding-rollups-security-only-patches/#post-137001.

Prior mention of an instance of this issue by ch100: see https://askwoody.com/forums/topic/why-kb971033-should-be-uninstalled-and-hidden-on-windows-7/.

Also, I can’t guarantee that there are no scenarios in which issue #1 cannot affect Group A.

It utilizes the best aspects of Windows Update and Windows Update MiniTool:”
