I have been toying with the idea of using the fact that Word normally uses the first line of a document in the save as box. I thought I had an easy solution to automatically generate a save name for the many files I produce daily. Unfortunately there a few problems with this including the fact Word truncates the text as soon as it hits a non alphabetic character (why?).
I thought I would try and write a macro to shift my memo subject up to line 1 and then do a save as to grab this line. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work. I am using a memo templae in a macro to generate each memo and the only thing that appears in the save as box is ‘Tuesday’ —the day I happened to make the first ever template.
I saw a recent post for a macro which would use the text in a for the name of the file together with path etc. I wasn’t sure if it would do what I wanted but I noted it anyway.
Does anyone know of another solution to this?
TIA
Brian
