don’t want to deal with Windows 11 Copilot

Blocking installation or just disabling ?

The code for copilot is included in the October security updates.  This blocks it being enabled.

Does it make any sense to use this registry key in Windows 11 22H2 Pro if one has disabled “Enable features introduced via servicing that are off by default” in GPEditor?

        Hi Berserker79:

I don’t have a Win 11 OS, but according to the 30-Sep-2023 Neowin article How to Turn Off or Remove Windows Copilot on Windows 11 Win 11 Pro users will be able to disable Co-Pilot in the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) by navigating to User Configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Windows Copilot | Turn off Windows Copilot and choosing “Enable”.

I think Susan’s suggestion to edit the registry will only apply to Win 11 Home users.

Keep in mind this will work for home and standalone pro versions if you don’t want to deal with group policy.

It also works on the upcoming 23H2 as the feature will be enabled with the release.

The .reg file has an HKLM entry as well as the HKCU. This would disable Copilot for the computer as well as only the current user.

Do I apply the registry keys now (as preventative) or only when copilot appears?

          • #2594606

Applying the .reg settings now work now and after Copilot appears. They disable Copilot if it exists on the computer. It makes no difference when they are applied.
