Last week, when I would go to the Google site, it came up in French. Today it is coming up in Spanish. Is there something wrong with my system or with Google?

Google generally looks at your ISP location to guess your language and then redirects you to a “national” Google site (e.g., google.fr, google.es). On that page, there usually is a link toward the lower right to use the main .com site. Does that match what you see, or are you getting the main .com site in another language?

I just went to Google using my laptop and it came up in Spanish – just like the desktop did earlier. There was a link in the lower right to Google-English which I clicked on and it came up in English. This is strange – first French and now Spanish. I live in northcentral Arkansas. Hmmm?

If you are not intentionally using Tor or another proxy, you might want to run some extra security checks and perhaps disable add-ons in your browser in case one of your toolbars or BHOs is at fault.

I don’t know how Google determines the language to use. I live in The Netherlands, and at home I use a Dutch language version of Windows and Internet Explorer, yet Google and Gmail always come up in English. At work, I use the English language version of Windows and Internet Explorer, but the Google and Gmail home pages are in Dutch…

        Isn’t that called “Reverse English”?

Contact your ISP. Sounds like it’s something on their end.

      From Yahoo Answers……

Clear all cookies, cashe, history on your computer then go to the link here
      http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=…

Google has a “Language Tools” page, accessed via a link to the right of the search dialog box. Check your settings.

I often get this problem, but this is because I work for a multi-national company and so the proxy server I connect to may not be in the country where I am located.

Try looking at http://www.whatismyip.com/ to see what IP address internet sites think you have, and then follow some of the links on the left of that page to see what that IP address says about you.

I was in Montreal, Quebec, Canada a couple of weeks ago. The computer provided by the hotel, in my room, was setup running a Windows Vista OS, using the French Canadian language. When browsing to any of my regular websites, including Google.com, or Google.ca, the page presented was written in French-Canadian.

Here’s the funny part. When using my personal notebook on the hotel’s WiFi service, I visited the same websites, and everything was in the usual US English (very few, if any sites have I been able to find a Canadian English option).

Luckily for me, I was able to navigate the French Canadian sites well enough to get what I needed.
