• Google does not send verification code e-mail.

Google is playing rough with me. When I try to login, it shows a screen message reading, “We want to be sure this is you. Choose an option.”
The option I select is, “Send an e-mail with the verification code to {e-mail address not on GMail redacted}”.
It replies it just sent an e-mail to that e-mail address.
I logon to my e-mail provider’s W-WW site [Fastmail .com].
One minute later: no verification code e-mail.
Five minutes later: no verification code e-mail.
Ten minutes later: no verification code e-mail.
Fifteen minutes later: no verification code e-mail.
Twenty minutes later: no verification code e-mail.
Twenty-five minutes later: no verification code e-mail.
Thirty minutes later: This e-mail from Google sent to the same e-mail address which should have received the verification code appears
Guess who was the “someone”. Especially note the line “but you should check what happened.” Just how would I do that?
What must occur here is Google must send me a verification code. But it is not doing that.
Anybody here on AskWoody have a workaround for this?

Have you tried sending an email to your Fastmail address to check it is working?

      cheers, Paul

A small apology for not checking here sooner; but honestly I did not expect anybody to provide a workaround. This is Google. It knows better. </sarcasm>

I have a spam folder. No, it was not in the spam folder.

I get verification codes from other entities wanting to verify an e-mail address.

I get e-mails every day in Fastmail. It is a web-based service.

How can Google send the security alert message to the exact same e-mail address for which the verification code request was made? Should the security alert e-mail also go unsent?

Fastmail has a pretty aggressive spam policy (which I like) and the verification email may be blocked.

Go to Fastmail > Settings > Privacy and Security, Spam Protection tab. Set the protection level to standard. You could turn it off to test.
Go to Fastmail > Settings > Mail rules and check you haven’t got any rules to block that email.

      cheers, Paul
