    Hi colleagues,

Does anyone know how to get a web page to show up on Google searches? My web site existed for months and it never showed up on searched. Then one day, POOF! it was number two on searches. What happened?

Also, I have a website that I want to show up on Google searches but does not. Can I do anything to help it? Does it have something to do with how many people have visited it?

    Thanks,

    JMT

There is a huge industry of SEO professionals and fraudsters, SEO meaning “search engine optimization.” You will find lots of conflicting advice out there. Take care: if Google thinks you are trying to abuse the system, your site might get blacklisted.

Concur with you – best advice is to use the “meta” tage for the website and add your website name several times. DO NOT ABUSE THIS – you can be blacklisted for this to.

Intenet “Search” bots will eventually scan the website and add to the “que”. As more hits to the site, it will become more popular.

Some search engines will “Premier” your web site through paid advertising (AKA your “SEO professionals”). Some search engines will allow you to suggest a website. Everyone is different.

Every WebHosting site I review has some kind of “Web Ads” and “Search Engine” coupons. You just have to check them out and be careful.

I’m not really sure what that means… add the website name to the meta tags? Google has been known to disregard the meta tags (especially keywords) and simply analyze the page for itself, to prevent people from “spamming” its index. In addition to looking at the page’s contents, Google gives preference to sites/pages that a lot of people link to, on the theory that those must be the good pages. That “PageRank” system is the company’s “secret sauce.”

Yes – website base name in header meta tag section. By using it as part of the well crafted description, you can mention it several times.

Google has been known to disregard, but other sites tend to use them. I do not advocate using alot of references OR just posting “WEBISTE NAME” numerous times in a row, but a few references in the description have helped several people I know.

Google “PageRank” is their secret sauce, which they seem to change constanly. If you “Advertise”, you website gets more exposure based on the level of advertisement.

I also agree with your statement

Not just Google, but several search engines. This is why Webrings started to become more and more prevalent. Which is why I also agree with your earlier statement from post 592,404:
