A friend prepares a document in WORD. When she goes to save it, there is the text that she has entered but at the bottom is all kinds of gobbledy gook which seems to be formatting code, etc. I am pasting part of the gobbledy gook below. What can be done to stop this from happening.

Looks like the document is being opened in ‘recover text’ mode.
Have your friend do File/Open and check the ‘Files of type’
This shoud be Word document. It sould not be ‘recover text from any document’

      Good luck,

She is not opening a document – this is a new document that she is creating.

If when Word is launched, does the new blank docuement contain this extraneous information?
If so, the Normal.dot is not an empty document.
Easiest way to correct this is to have it rebuit by deleting it, unless there are macros or custom styles, etc.

          Good luck,
